What if we didn’t have hair? What a crazy thought. The country literally spends billions on hair care and beauty products each year. This means that everything from makeup to hair loss products are becoming the norm. So how can some people become so bold as to shave their head – well they do. They give up on the fight for hair thinning to become hair thickening when there are clearly new brands on the market that help to grow fuller and thicker hair. One of these brands is Nioxin and another is Healthy Hair Plus.

Hair thinning has become a popular topic in the salons and in the malls and no one is impervious to hair thinning anymore. Even women are suffering from hair thinning or hair loss before they reach menopause and some possible causes are diet and stress as well as heavy build up on the scalp from hair products over the years, especially the sticky hair products like hair sprays that trap dirt and bacteria. The best products to use for dirt and bacteria build up on the hair are deep cleansing shampoos. Nioxin and Healthy Hair Plus both manufacture deep cleansing shampoos that help to deep cleanse away hormones and dirt build up on the root of the hair.

Another serious problem that has been around for years is dandruff and today most people only know about the medicated dandruff shampoos but they are not targeted at getting to the source of the problem. Products like Nioxin and Healthy Hair Plus work as much on the scalp as they are targeted at the hair. This is because the dandruff is on the scalp and leaving excess product behind or irritating the scalp can cause dandruff to pop up even in women and men that typically don’t have a dandruff problem.

Many people mistake dandruff for actual flaky scalp that appears to be dandruff but is actually dry scalp that flakes away. For this problem it is much more effective to use a dry scalp shampoo that has one of the following oils: jojoba oil, emu oil or hemp oil. These oils work well to end dry scalp. The problem is that most companies don’t put enough oil in the shampoo to make a difference. Our favorite is emu shampoo since it also has jojoba oil but does not leave the hair or even scalp oily in any way but it does leave the hair and scalp super moisturized and that is vital to health hair.

So this begs the question of what you should actually be looking for in a shampoo and conditioner as well as hair care treatments or products that style the hair and the answer is that every situation is different. I would say that the most important thing is to look how dry your hair is first. Then I would rate that as my top priority. Dry hair can cause numerous problems. And each of these problems can lead to more serious problems. We have had women with dry hair quickly turn gray and then we have had dry hair quickly turn to the most frizzy hair that eventually became unmanageable. Dry hair can also be a sign that your hormones are changing and that means that you need to start using products that protect your hair from thinning and loss. Itchy dry scalp is one of the chief complaints that we get in the salon. End dry itchy scalp by focusing on the correct problems and don’t be scared of oils for the scalp and hair.

For those that pull the wrong straw and are starting to thin out then we strongly suggest a deep cleansing shampoo and hair vitamins that can help you get your hair growth back on target. Brand like Nioxin and Healthy Hair Plus can definitely help and work better when caught in the early stages of hair thinning or loss.

Your hair is probably more important to you than any other part of your body, for most people specially the do it yourselfers the hair is a favorite medium on which to experiment. There are however a few or probably many things you should not do your self at home, cutting your hair is one, not because it might ruin your hair but it can ruin the look of your hair. There are many things apart from getting your hair cut that you shouldn’t do at home. On the other hand there are many things that are great for you to do your self and could prove better than visiting a salon.

In the world of do it yourself technique’s home hair color is perhaps one of the most popular. There are many reasons for this popularity, you can save time, money, and have fun experimenting without having to drive across town to do it, if you dye your hair right in the comfort of your very own home.

However, it is important to know what to do and what not to do to keep your hair healthy and looking great regardless of the color. The key is to make people believe that is your real hair color, whether it is or not.

What to DO!

Particularly if this is the first time you have ever colored your hair, you will want to determine the right color for your skin tone and overall being. You want to make sure that it will look good on you. There are several excellent software programs that allow you to do that. On the other hand, your stylist should be able to help you by telling you what might look best on you.

So DO choose the right color!

Before you go all out with your hair color, it is best to test it. Test it on a single inconspicuous strand, this allows you to test the product, test the color and determine if you will be happy with that color.

So, DO test before using.

You also want to make sure that when applying the hair color overall that you work from the roots forward. Never the ends forward. If you are only fixing the roots, apply only to the roots and nowhere else to keep the color looking even and true.

So, DO work in the right areas for best results.

After coloring, you will of course want to wash your hair using shampoo and conditioner, however, make sure that you have waited a minimum of 24 hours before doing so. After 24 hours go for it, you won’t run the risk of washing the color out.

So, DO wait before washing.

You want to keep changes subtle and easy. You never want to go any more than a maximum of two shades either way, darker or light than what your natural hair color is.

So, DON’T be dramatic, make changes subtle.

When coloring your hair, you want to be sure you keep track of time. When the color is in and you leave it in too long, you run the risk of the wrong color or damaging it to the point that you then need to repair your hair.

So, DON’T forget to time yourself.

If you find you don’t like the color or the results, the best thing to do is seek help from a professional. You never want to re-dye the hair immediately to correct an error, this can cause damage to the hair.

So, DON’T overdo it.

Hair color is something you can certainly experiment with, you will be find just as long as you keep yourself within boundaries and don’t go overboard. –
