Face cleaning is a technique everyone must know to keep his or her face dirt free for healthy looking skin.  Face cleaning should be a dedicated task especially if you have oily skin or have acne. Skin protection is very important for both men and women.

To begin with steam your face for 5-10 minutes. This is simple to execute. Take boiling water in a bowl, cover head with the towel and hold bowl close to your face. Make sure it’s not too hot to hold. Steam will help to open pores in your skin. Clogged pores give birth to ugly black heads, which leads to uneven skin tone. It also causes acne and other bacterial infections.

Use a cleanser according to your skin type. If you don’t know your skin type, take professional help to find out.  People with oily skin or acne need to use an oil free cleanser or a slightly medicated cleanser and for dry skin something with moisturizer will do well. Face wash will remove all the visible dirt and impurities.

To get rid of the dead cells, you must use a scrub. Get any hypoallergenic face scrub specially designed for facial skin. There are many herbal fruit scrubs, which are good for the gentle skin of the face. Scrub gently and wash your face. According to new researches, scrubbing actually gives way to clear skin.

Wash face with warm water and don’t use hot water on your face ever.  Once you feel all the scrub has washed, splash face with cool not cold water, to close the open pores. Pat your face dry and do not scrub your face with the towel. Use clean towels every time, or keep small hand towels for face.

Allow face to dry for couple of minutes then apply a tried and tested mask or face pack.  Use face pack accordingly to your skin type. Herbal packs with clay will help remove excess oil and tighten skin pores. To complete your face care, gently massage with a good quality moisturizer according to your skin type.

You can also consider simple and safe home remedies for clearer skin. You can take one tablespoon cold milk, dip a cotton pad in it, rub on your face in circular movements, use upward strokes on neck area, leave it for few minutes and wash it with cool water. Milk is a natural cleanser and a moisturizer.

You can also use a thick slice of cucumber, rub over face and neck, and wash after 15 minutes.

Making our own facial is easy to do – we’ll just need to have some all-natural ingredients on hand. These ingredients are easy to find and are inexpensive to purchase at our local grocery store.  The trick is to have these ingredients readily available at home so we can give ourselves a homemade facial once a week.

Now, before we are able to apply our homemade facial scrub, we need to take off all our jewelry. Please pay close attention to removing any earrings we might have on as some of the natural substances we will be using do not react well with metal jewelry.  Let’s smooth all our hair back from our face by using a headband and if we do not have one, we can use an old bandanna. Using an old bandanna might actually be a better choice as we don’t have to be worried about getting it dirty from our facial scrub. Now that we have our hair out of the way, let’s wash our face with a normal cleanser to remove all traces of makeup, and be sure that when applying our facial masks, we follow all the instructions to the book. Don’t forget to set a timer, it will help us remember when to remove the facial scrub from our skin.

Here are some great facial recipes we can try at home:

Milk and Cinnamon Facial: This facial consists of four ingredients that we are most likely going to find already in our refrigerator and kitchen cabinets. In a bowl, mix one tablespoon of milk, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, one tablespoon of honey, and one teaspoon of vanilla. Spread the mixture onto our face and leave it on for 15 minutes.  Then rinse it off well with warm water.

Egg and Almond Oil Facial: This facial is made with a combination of two basic ingredients: one egg and one teaspoon of almond oil. Mix the two ingredients in a bowl and apply the scrub to our face. Leave it on for 15 minutes, then rinse it off well with cold water.

Cucumber and Mint Facial: A cucumber and mint facial is just what our skin needs to be rejuvenated. You will need a blender for this one and four simple ingredients to make this mask come together. Into the blender, put half a cucumber, five mint leaves, one tablespoon of Greek yogurt, and one tablespoon of dry milk. Blend it well and leave this mixture on your face for 15 minutes, then rinse your skin well with warm water.

What are you waiting for… now go do your facial!
