Staying alive in the dark – Making yourself visible
You are strolling down the sidewalk, all is dark and quiet. Off the distance you hear nothing but a dog bark. As you decide to make your way across the street, whoosh… that silent Prius nearly runs you over. As you try to collect yourself, you wonder, how come that car did not see me?
As technology advances, our existing notion of car sounds can trick us. Many drivers experience more limited eyesight in the dark than they do in the light. Making yourself visible is the one big thing we can do to stay alive!
When you are walking, jogging, running in the dark, you want to be prepared. Be prepared to be visible.
Reflective Vests – Reflective Vest is the best thing you can wear to make yourself visible. This is a must if you find yourself jogging in the dark often. These vests are generally light and are also designed to keep you warm.
Reflective Bands – Reflective Bands come as wristbands, ankle-straps, sweatbands and more. They come in various sizes and colors. More importantly, they are cheap and you can get them almost anywhere.
Reflective Shoes – Reflective Shoes on their own are not enough as they are not visibile from all angles. Almost all running shoes have some sort of reflective material on them. These range from stripes, to even soles and shoe laces.
There is nothing like reflective gear to make yourself visible.
